Pre-ceremony and registration information

After Semester Two results publication, all graduates will receive a Graduation Invitation via OC in OASIS. All graduates must register to attend their graduation ceremony by the published deadline via the Graduations Channel in OASIS. You will NOT receive a Graduation Invitation via post or to your personal email address. Please note that outside the registration period you will not be able to see the Graduations Channel in OASIS. Registration to attend a ceremony must be completed during the registration period. No registrations will be accepted after the registration closing date. If late registrations are able to be accepted a late registration fee is payable.

Graduates are sent a Confirmation Registration OC via OASIS confirming the Graduation Ceremony details. This OC outlines where to collect tickets and regalia on campus the day before the ceremony. Academic regalia is supplied by the Curtin Malaysia Alumni Office. Regalia and guest tickets must be ordered by accessing the Tickets/Regalia/Photography Webform. The link to the webform can be accessed by opening your Confirmation Registration OC.

To collect your tickets and regalia you must present photo identification including either your Curtin student ID card, drivers license or Passport. If you cannot collect your tickets and regalia and require someone to collect on your behalf please ensure they bring a Disclosure of Information Proxy Form and photo identification. Tickets and regalia will not be issued without authorisation from the student.

Photography is contracted to a professional studio for the coverage of the ceremony and for the receipt of your award certificate on stage. The event is also recorded, and students may pre-order DVD copies for themselves. Photography can be pre-ordered by accessing the Tickets/Regalia/Photography Webform. The link to the webform can be accessed by opening your Confirmation Registration OC. Local florists are invited to set up their stalls at the entrance of the venue and families and friends may purchase bouquets, a small memento for the graduates.

The Recreation and Event Centre is located on the Curtin Malaysia Campus.

If you are from out of town, it is advisable to take a taxi and make arrangements with the taxi driver to collect you afterwards. The campus is very far from town so it is advisable to have the taxi driver's phone number. If you are staying at a hotel, it is advisable to make arrangements with them to help you with a taxi service.

The closest hotel is the Grand Palace Hotel. Other hotels located in town are the Imperial Hotel and Suites, and Mega Hotel.

Ceremony day information

Please ensure you and your guests arrive at the Recreation and Event Centre at least 1 hour prior to the start of the ceremony.

The 2017 Curtin Malaysia Faculty of Business and Faculty of Humanities Graduation Ceremony will commence at 10:00 am, and is expected to conclude by 12:00 noon.

The 2017 Curtin Malaysia Faculty of Engineering & Science Graduation Ceremony will commence at 2.00 pm, and is expected to conclude by 4.00 pm.

The ceremony commences with the welcome address. The ceremony includes the presentation of the first group of graduates, the occasional dress followed by the presentation of the second group of graduates. The ceremony concludes with the Charge to Graduates by the Vice-Chancellor and the closing address.

Graduates are escorted on to the stage one row at a time and are presented to the Chancellor to receive their award certificate. A photo is taken of each graduate as they receive their award certificate from the Chancellor.

Graduates have reserved seating at the front of the stage and guests will be seated behind the graduates. There is priority seating available, which is reserved for elderly and people who need wheelchair access. Guests must have their tickets on them at all times; entry to the venue is by ticket only.

The Curtin Malaysia graduation ceremony is usually approximately 1.5hrs in duration. Graduates and guests are encouraged not to leave until the end of the formal proceedings.

After the ceremony closing address drinks and light snacks will be available.

If you have hired your regalia, it must be returned immediately after the ceremony. Any late returns will result in being charged a late fee.
